Curious about theology.
Grounded in everyday life.

Because what we believe about God has something to do with how we live an ordinary day.

About Koli

I’m a teacher, a storyteller, and an enthusiastic Theology student. On slightly pretentious days, I call myself a practical theologian. Mostly, I’m someone who brings a Bible, a pen, a Moleskine journal, a heart to learn, and enjoys helping others explore what faith looks like in everyday life.

My background is in English and Creative Writing, with graduate study in education and literature pedagogy. I have taught language and literature and facilitated learning with adults. Analysing fiction and poetry taught me to notice words, imagery, context, and the way a story unfolds. I bring that same literary major’s curiosity to Scripture: what words repeat, what connections can we discover, and what might we miss if we hurry?

For a long time, I’ve known how much joy I find in preparing Bible studies. Searching, reading, and discovering connections leave me feeling full and alive. Somewhere along the way, my prayer became, “Lord, help me fall in love with Scripture. Teach me to dig deeper.”

You’ll often find me taking notes from a speaker or highlighting a book and writing in the margins. Sometimes those margins hardly stand a chance. In my devotional time, those discoveries become personal as I pray and reflect on what God’s Word means for the life I’m living.

Learning from Bible scholars, while seeking God’s guidance and wisdom, fills me with wonder. I want what I learn to shape how I love, work, respond, and care for others here and now. My hope is to understand and practise the life God intended for us as people created in His image.

I would love to study biblical theology formally one day. Until then, curiosity need not wait for an enrolment form. With so many resources available, an open Bible, and a heart willing to be taught, I can keep learning right where I am.

I’m not a Bible nerd, but I do love digging deeper. I write and facilitate Bible studies as a fellow learner, seeking to make the teaching understandable without losing its depth.

So here I am, bringing my love of Scripture, my curiosity, and my teacher’s heart to BetweenVerses, a home for those studies. Together, let’s dive deeper, wrestle honestly with God’s Word, and let what we discover shape our everyday lives. Bring your questions. I’ll bring mine. Let’s keep learning to live as the people God created us to be, growing in our love for Him and our neighbours through our everyday choices.

Please note that these Bible study lessons reflect my understanding and discoveries at the time of writing. As I continue to learn, I may revisit and refine them, as studying Scripture is a lifelong journey. You may find something new here, or much may already be familiar to you. Either way, I’m learning as I write, and occasionally discovering that the lesson is meant for me.

Let’s look at this together.

Resources — Coming soon!

Over the years, I’ve read and learned from many authors, Bible scholars, apologists, and speakers through in-person and online conferences, podcasts, and books.

They include Premier Unbelievable, BibleProject, Tim Mackie, The Naked Bible, WTC conferences, N. T. Wright’s podcast and books, Socrates in the City, C. S. Lewis’s and J. R. R. Tolkien’s books, John Lennox, Dr. Caroline Leaf, Terri Savelle, KVM, Danny Silk, the Arbinger Institute, Bruce Wilkinson, Matt Chandler, and many more. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I also learned from Aqueduct, the Centre for Biblical Studies at YWAM Kyiv. I take notes, reflect on Scripture, and draw on this learning to write these Bible study lessons in my own words. I’m grateful for the knowledge, wisdom, and understanding shared, and I credit the people and resources I draw from.

I also explore the textbooks and study resources my son used for his master’s degree and at the School of Biblical Studies. It’s lovely to learn from the same resources that deepened his understanding of Scripture.
